The first elimination round of Nigerian Idol Season 6 took place on Sunday, ending the run of Dotun and Faith Mac.
It was a tense night as contestants and their fans waited with bated breaths for the names of those to perform to be called. Kingdom was the first to breath a sigh of relief as he got called up to perform. The theme of the night was idols and he expertly nailed his rendition of Uyo Meyo'by Teni in a performance that left the judges impressed.
The ranks of waiting contestants continued to shrink swiftly as one lucky contestant after the other got called up.
Daniel was called up and he performed Empty Space by James Arthur and even though the judges felt it was a poor song choice, but that didn't subtract from their conviction that his voice deserved to be retained in the competition in the coming weeks. And then Faith Jason also had his anxiety quelled when he was called up to perform All Time Low by Jon Bellion. He once showed off his ability to hit extremely high notes and why he has remained in contention to date.
After it was Beyonce's turn to be saved and she came up on stage to perform Dynamite by the South Korean boy band, BTS and then Emmanuel gave us Beneath Your Beautiful' by Labrinth followed by one of the most impressive performances of the night, Beyonce's XO killed masterfully by Akunna.

With three slots left, the remaining five contestants were bound to be nerves at that point and when Clinton got saved to perform Tonight by John Legend, the tension among the remaining four was palpable. Despite this, Francis got up and displayed his ever-confident self when he got the 8th call. Writings on the Wall by Sam Smith got a very respectable rendition as Francis put up his vocal talents on display once again.
With only one spot left to fill, Dotun, Comfort and Faith Mac knew only one of them was going to get another shot to perform next week and it was more than relief for Comfort when IK called out her name for her to perform Ire by Adekunle Gold.
This meant the end of the road for Dotun and Faith Mac's amazing voice on the show and fans of the Top 9 have another chance to keep their favorites in the show as voting lines are now open up till Wednesday 9pm again.
