FCTA ready to host Zuma film festival – Perm. Sec.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), says it has concluded plans to hold Zuma Film Festival in April 2022.

The FCTA Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olusade Adesola, disclosed this on Thursday, when he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Film Corporation in Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary said the administration has accommodated the hosting of the festival in its 2022 budget, and has resolved to making it historic.

Adesola noted that the administration is partnering with the Corporation to organise the Festival, as it had the potentials of marketing the nation’s capital and attracting investment.

“During the week of the festival, crime rate is likely going to be low within the city.”

Earlier, Dr Chidia Maduekwe, the Managing Director and Chief Executive, of Nigerian Film Corporation, said Abuja was carefully selected to host the festival, to showcase the beauty and economic potential of the city to the international community.

He also revealed that some foreign Embassies in Nigeria in Abuja have agreed to partner and ensure that the festival becomes a huge success.

“With the sustained support and assistance from our international film friendly nations like the United States embassy, the Bangladeshi High Commission, Embassies of France and Germany and others in Abuja.

“We intend to escalate the conversation of establishing a film entrepreneurial hub in FCT.” he said.
