Two suspected kidnappers in military camouflage killed by Policemen, others flee

No fewer than 5 hoodlums dressed as Military personnel have been shot by operatives of the Nigerian Police Force attached to Kogi State Police Station.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer of Kogi State Police Command, DSP William Ovye Aya said 2 of the hoodlums were killed while 3 fled into the bush with gunshots wounds.

According to him, the hoodlums who have been terrorizing some parts of Kogi state were said to have set a road block at the Ajaokuta area in an attempt to abduct innocent civilians.

He the armed hoodlums would have successfully carried out their mission if not for the intervention of the cops.

How the incident unfolded

The gunmen were operating and stopping vehicles when all of a sudden, men of the Police Anti-Crime Patrol Team arrived at the scene.

Upon sighting the gunmen, the hoodlums opened fired which was returned back by the operatives. In the process, 2 died, the remaining 3 ran into the bush, however, they were hit and wounded.

The Police said that they recovered 2 wooden AK-47 rifles, 25 assorted mobile, an ATM card baring the Mohammed Jamiu, and some huge cash.

Kogi State government Reacts

Reacting to the incident, the Kogi state government praised the timely response of the Police operatives in averting the catastrophic event.

A statement by Muhammed Onogwu, spokesman of Governor Yahaya Bello assured of the state Government's preparedness to confront and repel criminal elements, adding that the Kogi State Police Command are capable and prepared to defend the state.
