The Kwankwasiyya movement has dismissed reports suggesting that former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is planning to leave the Nigeria Democratic Congress over disputes on candidate lists in Kano State.
Speaking on Monday, spokesperson Habeeb Saleh Mohammed described the claims as unverified social media rumours, insisting there was no such plan within the group.
He said the primaries were conducted lawfully and in line with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission, adding that they held their exercise on May 29 alongside other party processes nationwide.
Mohammed explained that the process followed consensus arrangements that produced candidates without complaints, and that the final list had already been submitted to the party leadership for appropriate action.
He further stressed that no discussion had taken place regarding Kwankwaso’s exit from the party, adding that the claims emerged amid reports of internal disputes over a 60–40 power-sharing arrangement in Kano.
